Hunting in New Zealand
Hunt Trophy fallow deer and red stags
Hunting New Zealand is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Come and hunt trophy red stag and fallow deer with us on 4200 acres of private land completely free range near Mount Ruapehu. In this region, we hunt wild red deer, fallow, pacific goat and pigs. The terrain in New Zealand is steep with a mixture of native bush and grass clearings. But, this makes it ideal for spot and stalk hunting with the more dense bush perfect for bowhunting. Make no mistake, this hunt will be hard work but it is more than worth it to leave knowing you earned your trophy.
The best time to hunt New Zealand is March-April during The Roar when the red stags and fallow deer are rutting. There isn’t another experience in the world like sitting on top of a fog covered mountain at 6am listening to stags roar and fallow croak all around you. If you enjoy it as much as we do, you’ll be back year after year!
If you’re an experienced hunter, see below for our current New Zealand hunting packages. We can organise a custom hunting package if you don’t see what you want. Simply contact us with the details of what you would like to hunt and we’ll put one together for you.
If you’re only just starting out, we can put together a ‘learn to hunt’ package for you. Our hunting guide, Brad, will take you through firearms safety basics, shot placement, spot and stalk hunting, field dressing and butchering your meat. There is no need for you to have a current firearms license or your own rifle. Contact us now if you are interested in a ‘learn to hunt’ package.

There are plenty of activities in the surrounding areas for the non-hunters in your group with the popular ski town of Ohakune and Tongariro National Park only a short drive away.
Nearby Mount Ruapehu is an active volcano near the southern end of the Taupo Volcanic Zone. In addition to deer hunting, the area is well known for skiing and hiking. Film buffs might recognise the snow covered slopes of Mount Ruapehu from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films.
The area surrounding the hunting property is abound in stunning landscape features making it the perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts. There is mountain biking, hiking, canoeing and jet boat tours to keep you busy. The crystal clear creeks and rivers are a hotbed for fly fishing with both rainbow and brown trout abundant in the Ruapehu region. Our guide will field dress your trophies and can organise transport to our preferred taxidermist in NZ (Sika Country Taxidermy).
