I Am Hunter

In March 2019, we will launch a brand-new platform for hunters, by hunters built on four key pillars: educate, advocate, entertain and reward.

I Am Hunter’s core focus will be to promote ethical hunting in all its forms; to create a vibrant online community; to become powerful advocates for the industry; and to provide educational resources that foster personal and industry growth.

What you need to know

I Am Hunter will be member-based, with access to premium content restricted for paying members. The platform itself will be multi-media, with all content supporting four key pillars: educate, advocate, entertain and reward.

With at least 140 separate pieces of content planned per year, I Am Hunter offers industry partners ample marketing opportunities to both raise brand awareness and generate direct sales.

Partnerships can be tailored to your individual business requirements and budget, and include quarterly reporting to measure the success of the partnership.

We will undertake an aggressive marketing campaign in the pre-launch, launch and post-launch phases, targeting our existing audience of over 66,000 hunters. We will also extend beyond this base through paid advertising, public relations, and content marketing.

Our existing team of four are all passionate hunters with extensive experience across business, technology, marketing, journalism, media, sales and customer service. We also plan to add a videographer, video editor and more content creators to the team.

Ultimately, our goal is to innovate and change the hunting industry, and to create the Number 1 hunting platform in the world. We invite you and your business to partner with us in bringing this goal to life.

Meet the tribe

Our primary target audience for I Am Hunter is rifle, shotgun and bow hunters aged 18-44 who have a strong motivation to improve their hunting knowledge and become advocates for the industry. They hunt for a variety of reasons – meat, trophy, pest/predator control, crop protection and conservation – and hunt a wide variety of game animals but their primary focus is on ethical, fair-chase hunting and the positive benefits it brings to the community and their families. They are also highly motivated to pass on the traditions of hunting to the next generation, and to introduce their family, friends and colleagues to hunting. They mostly live in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, Europe and South Africa. Around one third are female hunters who take pride in doing the hard work themselves.

Our secondary target audience is non-hunters and outdoor enthusiasts who have a strong desire to pursue a more ethical, sustainable lifestyle. They are open to the concept of hunting and seeking more information on how to get involved.

There will also be cross-over into other hunting disciplines such as trapping and pigging, as well as related outdoor pursuits such as fishing, camping, hiking and 4WD-ing.

Chief, Expert Hunter, all-round Tech Guru

Rod has been hunting for so long, we’re pretty sure he popped right out of the womb, clutching his first .22! Growing up in rural Australia, Rod was raised on a strong foundation of safety and ethics.

As a young kid, he earned his first income trapping foxes and rabbits for their fur, and doing crop protection and pest control for local farmers. And, in his free time, he hunted in the surrounding bush.

Fast forward forty years and that passion is stronger than ever. In fact, we’re pretty sure hunting is in Rod’s blood. For the last few decades, he’s supported his hunting addiction with executive roles in the technology and business world, which has given him plenty of opportunities to expand his hunting territory beyond the small town he grew up in.

Rod brings a wealth of experience both in the hunting and business worlds, and has quickly gained a reputation in the industry for his integrity, ethics and strong family values.

Wannabe Chief, huntress, Acting Design Queen

If there’s one thing Jess has always possessed, it’s a mind of her own. As a child, she wanted to be a vet, and spent most of her free-time rescuing animals and hiding them in her bedroom! She even teetered on the edge of the vegetarian-cliff, much to her father’s horror.

Thankfully, at 17, she saw the light, accompanying some friends on a hunting trip in Outback Queensland.

Eight years later, Jess is an accomplished hunter and all-round outdoors-woman, determined to be a strong role model for her son, as well as other female hunters in the industry.

With a double-degree in Business and International Relations, Jess is pretty much our resident Jill-of-all-trades – managing sales and customer service, marketing, video editing, photography, social influencing and anything else we throw her way.

Master of Pun, Social Guru, Record-Holder, Everybody’s Favourite

How do you go from accident-prone middle child to Everybody’s Favourite? With quick wit and a winning personality.

As the unofficial and often-accidental comedic star of the I Am Hunter show, Tash’s light-hearted approach to advocacy is a breath of fresh air in an industry that often takes itself too seriously.

Tash puts her social skills and background in radio to good use managing our social media, promotional and online activities.

Tash is also the resident Record Holder for biggest red deer and the only successful bow hunter in the team (no, Jess, ground squirrels don’t count!).

Bec

Marketing Wizard, Late Bloomer, Creator and idea maker

Until recently, Bec was content to stay in the shadows, using her expertise in marketing, journalism and communications to keep the real stars on track.

While HuntShack was definitely Rod’s brainchild, Bec was the one that came up with the concept for the I Am Hunter platform, undertaking her toughest marketing gig to date in convincing the team to change direction and try something new.

Being in a hunting family, Bec has spent years on the fringes but had always resisted the urge to join the tribe fully, not feeling that hunting was her thing. That all changed in early 2018 when, at 45, she finally ‘bit the bullet’ and became a fully-fledged hunter herself – proving you really can teach an old dog new tricks.
